Today (18th May), the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV) posted a news item on their web-site titled ‘Please help the monkeys of Cambodia and Laos’.

‘… Recent BUAV investigations have highlighted the appalling plight of monkeys in Cambodia and Laos. In Cambodia, we uncovered evidence of an illegal trade in wild caught macaques in which the animals are transported at night, hidden to avoid detection, under packs of ice in vehicles which have been adapted to hold cages …

At one farm, monkeys were found singly housed in small barren cages, often in a dilapidated state. Others were kept in overcrowded barren concrete pens. Shockingly infants, clinging to each and clearly too young to be separated from their mothers, were kept together in small barren cages.

In Laos, Our investigators uncovered the appalling conditions in which thousands of monkeys are imprisoned to feed the international research industry – some of the monkeys were lying dead in their cages; others were in a pitiful state, severely emaciated and suffering from severe hair loss and injuries. For further information and to watch our video.

Please support our call to the Cambodian and Laos authorities for urgent action to be taken against the monkey farms:
