Yesterday (19th June), an item was posted on getreading.co.uk titled ‘Green councillor backs ban on animal tests’.
‘… Green councillor Rob White has signed up to the international petition for a global ban on the use of animals to test cosmetics.
The global pledge to ban animal testing for cosmetics was launched by Cruelty Free International last week at more than 300 Body Shop stores in the UK, including one in Reading.
The petition will roll out over the coming weeks in 65 countries, and is the largest campaign ever to seek a global bar on the use of animals to test cosmetics.
Cllr White said: “I’m delighted to sign the Cruelty Free International pledge and call on governments around the world to ban the testing of cosmetics on animals.
“I know many Reading residents will want to join me in signing the pledge and support Cruelty Free International in their campaign to end this cruel and unnecessary practice.”
The petition can be signed at The Body Shop or online at www.crueltyfreeinternational.org/telltheworld …’
