Today (17th July), a brief news item was posted on somersetcountygazette.co.uk titled ‘Campaigners call Taunton meeting in a move to stop badger cull’.

‘… CAMPAIGNERS against the badger cull have called a public meeting in a bid to stop it going ahead.

The High Court ruled this week that the cull would go ahead in parts of the UK, including West Somerset, to try and prevent the spreading of bovine tuberculosis.

Now, the League Against Cruel Sports has organised a public meeting in Taunton on Friday (July 20) to rally support against the decision.

The free meeting takes place at the Brewhouse Theatre from 6.30pm.

Confirmed speakers for the event include Brian May, founder of Save Me and Pauline Kidner of Secret World in Burnham …’
