Yesterday (30th May), the culminating event was held at the British asparagus festival – Asparagus Festival Day. The English asparagus season runs from St George’s Day to Midsummer’s Eve (23rd April-21st June). Fresh, in-season English asparagus is delicious and it is also high in vitamins and minerals. There are different forms of asparagus. Asparagus can be steamed or blanched, or even eaten raw, but apparently it is best grilled or char-grilled.
