US: Bill Clinton on the Ellen DeGeneres show talks about ‘going vegan’

Yesterday (3rd May), an item was posted on titled ‘Bill Clinton tells Ellen about Hillary’s discretion, going vegan and missing driving before heading home with a 7ft blonde (but it’s just a portrait of DeGeneres)’, about the interview of former US president Bill Clinton by Ellen DeGeneres on her US TV show.

‘… Former President Bill Clinton had a wide-ranging chat with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres on Thursday, talking about matters close to his heart both physically and emotionally.

Mr Clinton talked about his health, his pride in his wife’s strong performance as Secretary of state, and the moment when he heard about the death of Osama bin Laden.

He was certain to make clear that he did not learn about the move until he was formally notified by the official White House channels, rather than through Mrs Clinton, who is clearly his closest inside source …

Clinton and DeGeneres talked about the work that he does through the his foundation, but they also touched on some lighter topics like his health and appearance, which the host complimented frequently.

Both the former president and DeGeneres are both vegans, a diet that Mr Clinton adopted after he coronary stents implanted in his heart following chest pains in 2010.

Known for his earlier love of burgers and barbeque, the change to a restrictive all-vegetables-no-dairy diet is quite a shift.

‘It’s just a good thing to do, and puts so much less stress on your cardiovascular system,’ he said …

And the results are clear, as he has lost a significant amount of weight.

‘This will be the third week in a row that I will weigh less than I did when I graduated high school,’ he boasted.

The interview didn’t start out so light, as he opted not to dance in as he entered like most guests do, but he and DeGeneres had a few funny moments …
