Today (3rd September), WSPA (the World Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) posted an item on their Humane Chain web-site titled ‘Stand Up for Animals campaign finishes on a high – 77,837 signatures!’. The Humane Chain is a WSPA campaign to stop live animal export.

‘… As you may have seen from all our facebook activity, we are very excited to announce that 77,837 people got involved in the recent Stand Up for Animals campaign and signed a little orange person voicing their opposition towards live animal exports!

In addition, eight MPs and Senators visited their local The Body Shop store to sign up and reiterate that Australia needs to move towards the alternatives to live animal export.

From all of us at WSPA and the animals, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part and signed a little orange person! …

What’s next?

As we speak, Body Shop staff are busy approaching Federal MPs in their own electorates with the signatures they have gathered to illustrate the widespread opposition to the trade and to present the alternatives.

And it doesn’t end there, we are busy planning for the next phase of this campaign so stay tuned and don’t forget that you can sign up for these blog posts by entering your email in the subscribe field at the top of this page …’
