‘The Badger Trust loses Judicial Review Appeal’

Today (11th September), the League Against Cruel Sports (LACS) posted an item on their web-site titled ‘The Badger Trust loses Judicial Review Appeal’. This is their response to the High Court decision on the appeal against the badger cull.

‘… Please see below the League Against Cruel Sports’ response to the High Court’s rejection of the Badger Trust’s Judicial Review Appeal against the badger cull, as a means of reducing incidences of bovine TB. The cull is due to begin imminently in the pilot areas of West Somerset and West Gloucestershire, before being rolled out nationally:

Joe Duckworth, Chief Executive of the League Against Cruel Sports, said:

“The League Against Cruel Sports is disappointed in the High Court’s ruling, although the outcome wasn’t totally unexpected. The planned cull of badgers remains a cruel and unscientific approach, which will not achieve its aim of significantly reducing the incidence of Bovine TB and will kill many thousands of badgers in the process. There is a viable, humane and scientifically proven alternative in badger vaccination.

“Despite this verdict, we will continue working alongside our partners to stop this barbaric practice from going ahead. Yesterday’s national rally reaffirmed the level of public feeling against the badger cull, both in the pilot areas and all across the country.” …’
