Today (1st November), the League Against Cruel Sports (LACS) issued a media release which they also posted on their web-site titled ‘The League launches “Hunting – the reality”‘.

‘… The League Against Cruel Sports has today released a short film to coincide with the start of the 2012 hunting season. “Hunting – the reality” shows the brutal realities of illegal hunting, dispelling some of the carefully engineered myths about the virtues of hunting, propagated by the hunting fraternity.

The three minute film depicts the final moments of a hunt, showing a fox which had gone to ground; being dug up, ragged by the hounds, shot, beaten and knifed. The League has been careful to include a very clear warning message to caution viewers about the graphic scenes included in the film …

Joe Duckworth, League Against Cruel Sports Chief Executive, explained: “Whilst we do not want to offend or upset viewers of this film, we felt it was important that the public see for themselves what is happening to their wildlife in the name of ‘sport’.”

The footage for the film was captured by an undercover League intelligence officer last season. Since then, the League has committed to invest a further £1 million, and has so far more than quadrupled the number of investigators working covertly in the field.

The League’s aim is to expose and bring to an end the cruelty inflicted on animals in the name of ‘sport’, working with the Police to bring to justice those who continue to flout the law.

Joe Duckworth commented: “Hunting with dogs is nothing more than ritualised animal abuse, with a good PR agent! However the activity is dressed up, the cold reality is simple; this is an illegal bloodspot in which animals are subjected to extreme suffering. That’s why we have invested in more undercover investigators to catch these cruel countryside criminals. One animal killed illegally, is one too many” …’
