Today (1st November) is World Vegan Day. Happy birthday to all vegans!

World Vegan Day was established in 1994 to mark the 50th anniversary of the UK Vegan Society.

The 1st November is also the Christian All Souls’ Day, while yesterday (31st October) was All Hallows’ Day. In the ancient Celtic calendar, the 31st October (1st November in some traditions) was the festival of Samhain or new year, the end of summer, and the third and final harvest of the year. The final harvest of the year was when livestock animals were slaughtered, as they could not be fed through the winter.

Many millions of animals are being exploited, abused and slaughtered, all day, every day, all over the world.

Go vegan for animals, people and the planet!

The 1st November is also the beginning of World Vegan Month (1st-30th November). Read more at www.worldveganmonth.net/
