‘Wildlife crime’

Today (8th November), Animal Aid posted a news item on their web-site titled ‘Wildlife crime’.

‘… Lush Cosmetics has long been worried about wildlife crime, and how little police funding and resources are given to it. The current protection is inadequate, with hunts flouting the law, large numbers of birds of prey being killed around shooting estates, and many more animals being caught in illegal snares.

Lush believes that the officers in the Wildlife Crime Unit are dedicated and committed but there are too few of them to have a meaningful impact. With the first ever elections for Police Commissioners coming up, we can all tell candidates what we would like to see the police focus on.
