Jill Phipps Rememberance – Dover Eastern Docks: today, 2nd February

Posted on February 2, 2013

Today (2nd February), there will be a Jill Phipps Rememberance ceremony in Dover. The event is listed on the Veggies AR calendar:

‘… Kent Action Against Live Exports [KAALE] is holding their normal 1st Saturday of the month demo against live exports on Saturday 2nd February 2013 at Dover Eastern Docks, midday til 3pm.

KAALE will be laying a wreath in memory of Jill Phipps who gave her life in the fight against live exports on the 1st February 1995. Everyone is welcome to attend and bring tributes and flowers to lay in memory of this courageous young lady whose life was so tragically ended by the greed of the vile, cruel live animal export trade.

There is a possibility that the [ship] Joline may return in the future to Dover instead of Ramsgate to carry on the regular exporting of sheep and calves and even pigs from the UK. The intention is to use berth 5 and for these plans to come to fruition the Joline will have to be modified to make berthing simpler.

With your help we can show the Port of Dover that we do not want this trade here or anywhere else so please attend on the 2nd February. Jill died in protest, the very least we can do is attend!

Please do not become despondent, just remember: “The moment you think about giving up, think of the reason why you held on so long “…’
