fab. vegan recipe of the day: ‘DIY Christmas cookie centerpiece’

Today (2nd December), Michele Borboa posted a fab. vegan recipe on her Vegan She Knows web-site titled ‘DIY Christmas cookie centerpiece’.

‘… Perfect for the upcoming cookie exchange, this Christmas cookie centerpiece will garner applause from your dessert loving guests. Best yet, this DIY Christmas craft uses items you already have in your bake-friendly kitchen and it’s deliciously simple to make.

DIY Christmas cookie centerpiece

Supplies:

  • 2 (12-inch) squares of burlap (one red, one tan)
  • 1 small to medium decorative bucket
  • A set of nested star-shaped cookie cutters
  • Assorted small holiday-themed pie crust or cookie cutters
  • 7 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 strands of raffia
  • 2 to 3 whole star anise
  • 1 dozen star-shaped sugar or gingerbread cookies
  • 1 red ribbon long enough to tie around stack of cookies
  • 2 candy canes

Directions:

  1. One your kitchen counter or table, place red burla sheet down in the center then overlap at an angle with tan burlap.
  2. Place bucket in the center of the burlap sheets.
  3. Nest the star cookie cutters and rest them up against the bucket. Scatter smaller cutters around the bucket and burlap.
  4. Wrap cinnamon sticks up with raffia, tying a knot to secure them. Set them on the burlap by the bucket.
  5. Scatter star anise around bucket.
  6. Stack cookies in the center of the ribbon and bring ribbon up around the sides of the cookies, tying a bow at the top. Place cookie stack inside the bucket.
  7. Set candy canes inside the bucket and you’re done!
